Whoever said that you shouldn’t mix business with pleasure obviously hasn’t met Pauline Herr and TWERL.
These two partners in life and work struck gold with Distance, a new collaborative EP inspired by the lust, love and desire of their long-distance relationship. Like a voyage over the oceans, its moving soundscapes twist and morph, plunging deeper with raw, relatable lyrics that share their story: “I’m afraid to let you go / Why can’t- Won’t you come with me? / Time flies so fast,” Herr asks painfully on “Stay With Me.”
The tale of a long-distance relationship could indeed be a tale as old as time. But Distance is tender and touching, affectionate and anxious, in a way we’ve never heard before. Authenticity boils over in the wispy vocal chops and soulful future bass of “Wherever You Go” while “Addicted” tugs at the heartstrings with droning pads and soulful sound design.

“Spending months apart and only being able to see each other briefly every few months has been really difficult, but has also made our time together really special,” Herr said in a press release. “This outing is very meaningful for both of us.”
Distance is now available through the San Holo bitbird. Post it here.
