It didn’t take long for Joe Burrow to earn his bevy of nicknames, but another Cincinnati Bengals member apparently has his own nickname as well.
Second-round pick Cam Taylor-Britt recently joined a Bengals secondary packed with talent, from fellow rookie Daxton Hill to star safety Jessie Bates, but Taylor-Britt has already differentiated herself from the crowd.
The Nebraska product brings plenty of speed and explosion to Cincy’s backfield and was aptly nicknamed “The Energizer Bunny” by a former teammate.
Bengals wideout Stanley Morgan Jr., who played with Taylor-Britt in Nebraska, explains why he gave the corner its affectionate nickname:
“I called it ‘The Energizer Bunny.’ He’s a hard worker. He’s always been that way… We’ll have a humble, energetic beast.
He is not afraid to fail. He is not afraid to throw himself. And give everything for the team. I like that about him.”

The Bengals are in desperate need of corner reinforcements in the 2022 draft and traded for Taylor-Britt in the second round, which ultimately turned out to be a bargain.
Taylor-Britt will be competing with famed Eli Apple for the starting job, and given Apple’s tendency to do not put his money where his mouth is, we think the rookie will overtake him by mid-season.
In addition to Apple, Taylor-Britt will be surrounded by a star-studded cornerback cast of Chidobe Awuzie and Tre Flowers and should fit in well.
Cornerback was seen as an urgent need for Cincy after last season, and if the Bengals are to make another Super Bowl run, acquiring backfield improvements will be key to their success.
Although Apple had a fairly productive 2021 season, we wouldn’t choose it as our best option to, say, keep Cooper Kupp again. Cincy has taken a major step in rebuilding its high school this draft, and Cam Taylor-Britt seems to have the raw talent and work ethic to make an immediate impact in the first year.
Only time will tell if his nickname “Energizer Bunny” will stick or not.
